Interview with
Simon Verhülsdonk
Head of Renewable Energies

How did you hear about the UltraPract 2nd generation enzyme products?

I was informed about the UltraPract products by the Biopract sales representative responsible for our region, Jan Maas. In addition, I was provided with extensive information material both online and in print format.

What were the factors that prompted you to purchase the enzyme product UltraPract HP and the trace elements V Trace W6?

I was particularly impressed by Mr. Maas’ professional advice, which, in addition to extensive practical experience, is also based on the knowledge from Biopract’s own research and development laboratory. The good explanation of how the enzymes work was underpinned by the presentation of the results of an individual flowability test. Last but not least, the price-performance ratio was also convincing, especially in comparison to other suppliers.

Could you please summarize your experience with the addition of enzyme products in your biogas production? What were the most important positive effects you noticed?

– The substrate mix in the fermenter has become much more homogeneous.
– The flowability and therefore also the agitability have improved significantly. As a result, we were able to reduce the stirring intervals in fermentation residue stores and lower our own power consumption.
– Since the use of enzymes, fermentation residue separation has been trouble-free.

In your opinion, what are the key criteria for a long-term and successful cooperation between buyer and supplier of additives for the improvement of biogas processes?

What is particularly important to me is good and, above all, continuous support and advice, which also includes regular evaluation of the fermenter biology and plant performance. I would also like to be informed about the continuous further development of the products and, if necessary, play a more active role in this. For example, customer feedback should be taken into account in product optimization and further developments should be tested in practice. Of course, the price-performance ratio should also remain stable.
